HOLLENBECK PALMS

Hollenbeck Palms

Hollenbeck Palms

Serving the Greater Los Angeles area for more than a century, older adults have enjoyed Hollenbeck’s vibrant, rewarding and comfortable environment, where friendships grow as personal interests are pursued.

Located on a beautiful 8 acre, park-like campus with panoramic views of Downtown Los Angeles, Hollenbeck was the former home of John and Elizabeth Hollenbeck who gifted their estate to create “Hollenbeck Home” in 1890.

Since then, Hollenbeck Palms has been transformed into one of Los Angeles’ premiere CCRCs, Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Offering a wide array of residential and assisted living accommodations, award-winning activities and wellness programs, along with 24 Hour Care that can be accessed as needed, our residents have less worry and more time to pursue their interests and lifestyle choices.

Schedule a tour and complimentary lunch to see all that Hollenbeck Palms offers.

As a 501 C3 non profit, Hollenbeck Palms has a 125 year tradition of sound leadership & management. Meet our Executive Team below and know that you are always welcome to review our Annual Financial Reports.

THE WATTS LABOR COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE

The Watts Labor Community Action Committee

The Watts Labor Community Action Committee

The Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC) has been working with people in Watts to improve the quality of life since 1965. We hold the hands of people in need by providing a place to sleep, food to eat, money to earn and love to grow. Over the last 45 years, we have grown to hold more than 30,000 hands per year through the tireless commitment of dedicated staff and volunteers.

WLCAC led and won the community fight to build King Medical Center, Watts’ first credit union as well as its first major bank. WLCAC also spearheaded the launching of the first transportation, homeownership, and employment programs in the Watts Community.

And we are not resting on our laurels. The WLCAC continues to breathe new life into the community by:

  • Building McCoy Villa, Watts’ first and only state of the art major housing complex for homeless families
  • Cultivating South Los Angeles’ first farm (Mudtown Farms), an urban agriculture initiative that will bring cutting edge economic and environmental sustainability to Watts
  • Adding to the only museum with a permanent civil rights exhibition in South Los Angeles
  • Creating Watts’ first public policy institute, dedicated to the study, planning and development of the Central Avenue Corridor and the surrounding area.

With Tim’s leadership WLCAC is growing as a cultural institution. He is also leading a much needed discussion on the concept of new local industry initiatives as potential solutions to long-term poverty and neglect.

WLCAC has stood the test of time and is firmly rooted in making life better in Watts, one person at a time.

Moving toward WLCAC’s 50th anniversary in 2015, Tim is excited about new opportunities, and determined to become an even better neighbor and partner with our beautiful Watts family.

Advancement Project

Advancement Project

Advancement Project

Advancement Project is a next generation, multiracial civil rights organization. In California we champion the struggle for greater equity and opportunity for all, fostering upward mobility in communities most impacted by economic and racial injustice. We build alliances and trust, use data-driven policy solutions, create innovative tools and work alongside communities to ignite social transformation!

Our signature is reach and impact — we and our partners have won over $15 billion to extend opportunity. Whether it is to build 150 schools, transform the City of Los Angeles’ approach to its gang epidemic, or revolutionize the use of data in policymaking, Advancement Project evens the odds for communities striving to attain equal footing and equal treatment.

After years of litigating civil rights, our founders started Advancement Project in 1999 to expand the tools available to end inequity and transform the large public systems that impact the lives of millions of Californians. We are creating a model for the next generation of civil rights progress through our: reliance on data to drive evidence-based solutions; innovation of technology and training tools to advance the field; building of partnerships between ground-level advocates and the halls of power; and proven ability to broker multiracial coalitions that reflect the state’s changing demographics.

HOMEBOY INDUSTRIES

Homeboy Industries

Homeboy Industries

Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Each year over 10,000 former gang members from across Los Angeles come through Homeboy Industries’ doors in an effort to make a positive change. They are welcomed into a community of mutual kinship, love, and a wide variety of services ranging from tattoo removal to anger management and parenting classes. Full-time employment is offered for more than 200 men and women at a time through an 18-month program that helps them re-identify who they are in the world, offers job training so they can move on from Homeboy Industries and become contributing members of the community – knowing they count!
